Judging is deciding if something is good or bad, right or wrong. But sometimes, do we forget the first part of the sentence: “In my opinion this is good or bad.” Sometimes we judge as though my opinion is THE opinion. That my judgment is THE judgment.
A purpose of judging can be good: to label things, compare them, process where information goes and make meaning out of it
But, there’s a dark side of judging to give me more power and make me look better. It happens hundreds of times a day and is an unwinnable, unending and stressful game, which also burns a lot of energy. When the game is over, what do you ultimately get? Even if you judge yourself to be better, is being better actually rewarding? What could we do instead of judge?
